How to apply to Nickelsville.
Valid government-issued photo ID required. We screen for sex offenders.
Nickelsville’s villages aren’t like other shelters. We operate the villages ourselves, which means everyone has a say in how they’re run; in exchange there are responsibilities. Even if you work or go to school, you’ll be expected to do your share. Our operating style isn’t for everyone, if you’re simply looking for a safe place to sleep and store your stuff you won’t be happy living at Nickelsville.
Besides running empowering villages Nickelsville’s goal is working to end homelessness. In order to take part with our friends and allies in that mission once a month each participant must earn one Participation Credit, which typically entails getting out of the village to take part in an activity to further our goal of fighting homelessness OR something that keeps Nickelsville operating and growing, such as meeting with an elected official, engaging with another organization, or attending our weekly Central Committee Meeting.
Nickelsville presently operates two* self-managed tiny house villages: Northlake Tiny House Village and Central District Tiny House Village.

Each village has its own Intake Process.
Northlake—Call the village each week and ask whether they will be interviewing that week. If so, you will be asked to show up Saturday morning at a specific time to be interviewed by Leadership.
Central District—Before interviewing those interested must attend a Central Committee Meeting. These happen the second Wednesday and each following Wednesday at Woodland Park United Methodist Church at 302 North 78th St. on Phinney Ridge. Doors open at 9:00 AM. Coffee and food available. NOTE: Before leaving, please give your name and contact information to the Staff Person facilitating the meeting. You will then be added to CD’s wait list and called for an interview when there’s an opening.
If you are being considered for an opening you will need to speak to our Staff Organizer, who will then share their observations with those who interviewed you.
Before you move into your tiny house you’ll need to read and sign Nickelsville’s Intake Agreement. After that you’ll be a Nickelodeon!
